Had VBG want Gastric Bypass
I have not had my revision, yet. I am looking into doing a revision from my RNY to a DS. Good to see you post. Research all of your options, and make an informed decision.
Good luck & keep us informed!!!!!

I had VBG in 1996 and sadly it was not a good experience for me at all.
This past March 2009 I had a revision RNY and so far 3 months out I have lost 36 lbs. Surgery and recovery since have been great...no complications whatsoever! I know my weight loss is slower this time around, but I am ok with that...I feel awesome and am very happy I had the revision!
Good luck!
Best of luck!
I had my VBG in May of 2004 and had lost nearly 100lbs with about 60more to go. I stopped and then started having issues..And have since gained anywhere for 15-20lbs back and have resumed my old habits.
I returned to my surgeon only to find out after CT and Endoscopy with dilation that I have scar tissue that is blocking the opening to my pouch and there for I dump everything that I eat. I spoke to my surgeon about revision and DS and he said that he did not recommend DS as it has NOT been around long enuff to know the long term results and whether or not weight gain was a possibility..since I am doing this for the 2nd time around I prefer better results' than that, and for long term.
I say do as much research as you can and if you trust your doctor and have been completely honest with him..then trust what he thinks is going to be a good option for you.
good luck !

My Dr who is very well known here for these type's of surgeries and is very well respected with very low list of complications after surgery also said that none of those other surgeries were a good idea for me. The sleeve he won't/doesnt even do or recommend.
As I said I trust him and what he feel's would be the best option for me, and have now gotten approval from my insurance company for my revision to be done, so hopefully when I see my surgeon on the 15th we will be also scheduling my surgery, I am feeling alot of different things BUT mostly I am excited to get back on track and start loosing again and to be healthy!
Keep me posted on how your appointment goes with your doctor and I'll do the same.
Best of luck! :)
